# About settlement dates

## How it works

When you create a quote, you specify a `settlementDate`. If this date is the next working day and you create an order using this quote before today's cut-off time, your exchange may still be processed on the current working day (if there are funds available).

This is because all quotes for today or tomorrow are considered immediate spot rates and will be acted upon as soon as possible. However, any `settlementDate` for later than the next working day will be settled on the target day.
