# About payment types

> Learn about the different types of payments and transfers that you can make.

## Payment types

The Equals API supports the following payment types:

* FasterPayment
* BACS
* CHAPS
* SWIFT
* SEPA

## Internal and budget transfers

An **internal transfer** is a transfer made from one Equals account to another Equals account. For example, transferring funds from ACME International to ACME UK.

A **budget-to-budget transfer** is a transfer from one budget to another within a single Equals account. For example, transferring funds from ACME International’s account budget to its Marketing team’s sub-budget.

## Batch payments

A **batch payment** organises multiple payments into a single submission for efficient management and tracking. While each payment in the batch is processed individually, grouping them allows for streamlined handling, validation, and monitoring. This is especially useful for managing high volumes of payments across various domestic and international payment types. The batch of payments is split into different orders based on currency or funding budget
